Substitute for engagement ring?
I've told my boyfriend of four years that if he asks me to marry him that I don't want a traditional engagement ring. Diamonds just aren't my style. I'd much rather have a large smoky topaz or maybe even a necklace. I'd be okay if he got it from a pawn shop. I think it's rediculous for a couple to spend thousands of dollars on a piece of jewelry when that money could go towards the house or something else important.
