What is this instrument I saw?
It was wooden and in the shape of a pod with a flat top and round bottom; like an oval cut in half. There were a set of five or six metal tines that made an amazing sound when you pressed and released them. I don't recall there being any openning in the instrument whatsoever. It sounded kind of like what you get when you play with glass cups and water in them. Anyway, it was five or so inches, maybe six in diameter and about two or two and a half inches tall. Anyone have any idea what this is?
Sounds like a kalimba, otherwise known as a thumb piano.
