the key is E, so it has four natural sharps.

I'm trying to play moonlight sonata
and there is an F note with an x by it indicating double sharp even though the key signature already says that F is sharp
so does that mean I play G# or F#?
and what does it mean if the is a sharp on an already sharpened note? like if it said F# what note is it asking for?
On a piano, F double-sharp is the same key (note) as G, so play a G.
If there's a sharp printed next to a note that's already sharp in the key signature, it's probably because earlier in the measure there's an accidental -- maybe a double-sharp or natural. The sharp is telling you that now you're back in the key signature, at least for that note.
